The Theodor Heuss Professorship and Lectureship

The Lectureship

Each year, The New School for Social Research hosts a Visiting Heuss Professor and a Visiting Heuss Lecturer from Germany. The Committee of German Scholars and a group of New School faculty members nominates and selects the Professor, and a subcommittee nominates and selects the Heuss Lecturer each year.

The Heuss Lectureship is independent from the Professorship, and is specifically aimed at younger scholars. The Lecturer teach courses in The New School for Social Research and Eugene Lang College, the graduate and undergraduate divisions of The New School.

There is no broad call for applications for the Heuss Lecturer. However, if you are interested in being considered for the Lectureship, please contact Rainer Forst, Chair of the Heuss Professor Selection Committee, at forst@em.uni-frankfurt.de.

The Lecturer will receive joint funding from The New School for Social Research and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, the German Research Foundation). The Lecturer is also encouraged to apply for supporting funds from the following two DFG-sponsored programs :
